In the Synoptic Gospels the ethos of hope is conversion in faith to the gospel of the kingdom of God. In Paul it is the effect that the raising of the crucified Christ in the justification of the godless. In John it is eternal life in love. The turn to the future, resurrection into life, and the life lived in love: these things constitute the Christian ethos of hope.
